Children and Young People Support Worker

Contract: zero hours/agency

Pay rate: £11.50 - £15+ an hour (plus additional holiday pay)

Location: recruiting around Llanelli, Burry Port, Swansea, Neath and Bridgend

**Please note we do not offer sponsorship and a minimum of 6 months UK based care experience is required for all agency-based roles with Brook Street Social Care**

What will you be doing?

Your role will aid in delivering support to children and young people through meeting their personal needs and plans, however, you may at times be required to work with the families for additional support. You will need to be prepared to work 1:1 with those you're supporting, however, we find that often you will be supported on a 2:1 basis with other staff members. In addition, you will be providing emotional support and companionship and therefore require these transferable skills.

It is essential that due to the various needs of the clients, you are a driver with access to your own vehicle as often you may be supporting them in the community. Please note that if you use your own vehicle on shift, you will be reimbursed.

It is vital that you have at least 6 months UK based care experience with children to meet the needs of the client and registered with Social Care Wales.

Ideally you will have a form of restraint training, however, this training can be provided to you free of charge, with no fee for certificates.

You can expand your experience and skills set with all the FREE training we provide in addition to the opportunity to work with a wide range of clients i.e. learning disabilities, mental health, homelessness etc. There's no fee to attend the training and no fee for you to obtain your certificate's - we're passionate about investing in you!

Requirements:

  • Driver with access to your own vehicle
  • 6 months UK based care experience in the last year OR a year in the last 5 years
  • Right to work in the UK (we do not offer sponsorship)
  • Willing to undergo DBS and reference checks
  • Willing to undertake personal care
  • To be approachable, friendly, proactive and engage with the services users
  • Great communication, organisational and interpersonal skills
