Job Description

** Senior Support Worker **
** Permanent and full time **
** Paying up to £25,000 **
** 5 bedded home for males and females aged 8 - 18 with emotional, behavioural difficulties and other complex needs associated **
** 15 hour shift, starting at 0800 with a sleep in attached so finishing at 0830 following morning. Over the roster period you work 11 shifts having 17 days off **

BS Social Care is currently recruiting for a Senior Support Worker within the Mildenhall area of Suffolk for a full time and permanent role. This role will include a whole host of benefits alongside a joining bonus of £500.

About the employer; this employer is a children's service within the UK offering independent behavioural care for commissioners. With over 100 high quality schools, colleges and homes they focus on making a real and lasting difference for everyone we support.

This children's home is situated between Mildenhall and Lakenheath, in the Forest Health District which boarders onto Cambridgeshire and Norfolk. It's a 5 bedded home for males and females aged 8 - 18 with emotional, behavioural difficulties and other complex needs associated. The home seeks to provide a safe and understanding ethos in which the young person can be assisted to address their behaviours and to take responsibility for their own actions. The emphasis of the work is by way of intervention and to challenge the inappropriate behaviour through a holistic therapeutic approach.

About the job;
Supporting the management to run a successful staff team and all day to day operations of the home.
To assist the management team with the supervisions of junior staff
Inducting new staff into the homes procedure and culture.
Ensuring the highest standards of care in relation to the young people's physical, behavioural and emotional needs.
Assist management with the writing and maintaining of placement and risk management plans, review reports etc.
Be the young person's champion and as part of the wider team strive to ensure that they achieve their aspirations and full potential.
Manage the well-being and behaviour of young people ensuring behaviours are addressed promptly and sensitively.
Support young people in daily activities include family contacts, shopping, outdoor and indoor activities, and community youth groups, promoting independence and social behaviour.
Support and encourage educational engagement.
Safeguard both young people, staff and the general public.
You will be assigned a key child and play a pivotal role in their day to day life including attending reviews and liaising with external agencies.

About the ideal candidate; due to the current needs of our home it is essential that you hold a Children, Young People & Families Practitioner Level 4 (previously Diploma Level 3) qualification.
