Job Description

** Childrens Support Worker **
** Bedford, Bedfordshire **
** Permanent and full time **
** £9.20ph and £44 per sleep in **
** 173 hours per month; 16 hour shifts working 6.30am - 10.30pm and a sleep in or 6.30am - 2.30pm / 2.30pm - 10.30pm and to work one full weekend per month or spread over 2-3 weekends **

BS Social Care are currently working with a local childrens service based in the Bedford area to recruit passionate and hard working Support Workers to work permanent full time (and part time) hours to support their children and adolescents aged 5 years old - 12 years old with early life trauma and emotional and behavioural difficulties. You will work a total of 173 hours per month and your hours will be spread out as flexible as possible to give you a work/life balance. This will be paid at £9.20ph and £44 per sleep in. You will be expected to work regular sleep ins (at least 1 sleep in per week at the least).

About the job; this role will entail working very closely with the children and adolescents within the home, you will also work very closely with your care team including Support Workers, Shift Leaders, Managers and outside professionals such as Childrens Social Workers.

Day to day duties; you will follow each childs care plan that will involve morning routines, a day routine and a night routine from waking up, making breakfast, getting ready for school/their day, prompting personal care, preparing the home for the children to come home, cleaning, shopping ect, dentist, doctors and so forth, supervising parental visits, dinner, preparing for bed and settling for the evening. This will also include behaviours, working with the child if they become upset, talking through their emotions and helping them process their thoughts guiding them to a positive outcome. Very rarely, de-escalation and restraint is needed due to aggressive behaviour.

About the ideal candidate; this role is opened to candidates who believe they will be the best Support Worker for our looked after children. You will ideally be a driver, with some form of experience working with children and young people and hold a qualification relevant to health and social care or children and young people. It is essential that you are hard working, committed, flexible when needed and wanting to take this role for the right reasons. Reflective practise is offered to our employees to discuss anything you want from your day at work to the information you have learnt about a childs past. It is very important that we not only support our children, but support our employees.

This is a permanent role offering full time (or part time) hours of 173 per month paying £9.20ph and £44 per sleep. A whole host of benefits will be offered alongside this role including full training, qualifications and promotions.
