Job Description

Counsellor - 16 hours per week

Neath (SA10)

£15.37 per hour

3 days a week 9am-2.30pm

We are working with a well-established client who are recruiting for a Counsellor to work on a temporary basis in Neath. Suitable candidates will provide effective and confidential counselling services to individuals.

Duties include but are not limited:

  • To work closely with the Assistant Manager: Safeguarding and Resilience and Support Team and be familiar with support systems within the Service that can be accessed for individual clients
  • To be responsible for developing resources relating to an individual's welfare and the service offered and make them available to students
  • To work in conjunction with the Assistant Manager and Head of Support to contribute to a variety of training programmes including Tutorials, Child and Vulnerable Adult Protection training, Induction Programmes etc
  • To maintain a professional approach and operate within the British Association of Counselling Code of Ethics with particular reference to supervision, confidentiality and record keeping
  • To provide electronic evidence of record keeping, maintaining records of confidential meetings where appropriate, provide statistical returns when needed and contribute to an annual report in collaboration with the Assistant Manager: Safeguarding and Resilience

Successful Candidates will have:

  • A Level 6 qualification Diploma in Counselling and/or relevant experience
  • Accreditation with BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy)
  • Knowledge and practice of BACP Code of Ethics
  • Experience of working with young people
  • Knowledge of mental health issues and awareness of the signs of mental illness to facilitate appropriate referrals
  • Level 2 qualification in English& Maths and IT.
  • Desirable: DBS on the update service
