We are looking to recruit a Female Support Worker

for one of my clients having female-only residential project providing nine high-, multiple-, and complex-needs beds and ten medium- to low-needs beds for women who have experienced homelessness and have support requirements involving issues surrounding drugs and alcohol, offending behaviour, mental health and/or domestic abuse.

As a Recovery Support Worker, your role is to support service users to achieve their personal goals and positive outcomes, by offering a high quality, person-centred recovery-based service, enabling them to develop their skills and resilience and supporting them to maximise their independence. You will be expected to engage positively with services users, so that they can identify their own needs and benefit from appropriate support and treatment services and move on to independent living and lead more happier, fulfilled lives.

The successful candidate will have experience of working with adults who are vulnerable and have multiple and complex needs. You must be willing to work flexibly, which includes weekday hours, evenings and weekend working.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide key work and support planning for Service Users, with relevant interventions such as life skills support, to help successful recovery in line with Service Users' personal goals.
  • Encourage Service Users to develop social networks and undertake meaningful activities to assist them to develop positive coping mechanisms and reintegrate into the wider community.
  • Explore resettlement options for Service Users and assist them to move on successfully to appropriate housing options.
  • To complete reports, including support plans, case notes and other documentation for managers as required in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Liaise with relevant and appropriate agencies and services to provide information, advice, support and treatment where necessary in relation to physical and mental health, substance misuse, education, employment and training, life skills and any other identified support needs.
  • Encourage and support Service Users to participate in the running and development of the service and activities/interventions that support self-management and independent living.

Experience Required:

  • Experience of working in the care sector with vulnerabilities
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) both internally and with external agencies and services
  • Understanding of Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adult
  • Experience and understanding of women specific support services would be a distinct advantage
  • Proven ability to build effective positive, motivational and working relationships across multiple teams both inside and outside the organisation
  • Able to influence and negotiate positive outcomes with Service Users and supporting professional bodies
  • Good reporting and I.T. skills
  • Able to participate in reflective learning, personal and professional development.
