Job Description

Job title: Finance and Procurement Officer - Band 5
Contract: 3 months
Pay: £11.76
Hours: Monday - Friday Flexible on hours between 8-4 36hrs per week
Location: Flexible work - 3 days at home and the other 2 days at their Manchester site)

Job summary:

You will contribute to the delivery of an efficient finance department ensuring accurate and timely financial transaction processing, you will be involved in a variety of Finance work.

Essential:
- Working knowledge of core financial functions including Purchase and Sales Ledger and preferably an understanding of payroll and pensions processes
- Familiar with a wide range of IT systems including, Financial software systems, MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Adobe

Duties:
- Performing a range of accounting and clerical tasks related to the accounts payable function
- Deal with invoice/expense claim processing, and preparing the weekly payment run
- Ensuring that all transactions carried out are within the Commission`s financial control framework and clear audit trails are kept
- Proactively help all aspects of the payroll function, ensuring all payroll requirements are met in line with the payroll calendar
- Maintaining our on-line expenses system
- Managing the Finance Helpdesk Mailbox - resolution and escalation to ensure requests are actioned and/or with the relevant operational person within the agreed timescale
- Working closely with our Finance Business Partners to resolve queries promptly
- Providing administrative support to the finance and procurement directorate, co-ordinating activity and dealing with correspondence
- Handle initial telephone and email enquiries from internal and external stakeholders
- Ad hoc projects and performing other duties as may be assigned from time to time

What we are looking for:
- Must have good attention to detail
- Be able to do double entry
- Good on Excel Word, Adobe
- Proven experience of working in a busy Financial environment delivering effective financial services to a range of stakeholders
- Experience of advising on day-to-day finance queries and policies
- Experience of working to tight deadlines
- Experience of routinely handling sensitive and confidential information
