Job Description

*Financial well being advisor*
*Full time permanent Monday - Friday*
*£25,500 per annum*

*Opportunities available in Cardiff and Swansea*
We are working with a wonderful charity who are recruiting for financial well being advisers.You will be working with an award-winning charity who specialise in social justice using expertise and real life past experiences to empower people and get them the help they need. You will be speaking with and supporting people who feel they are being held back by poverty, exploitation, abuse, addiction, mental health and/or being caught up in crime. This role involves speaking with individuals who have been forwarded to you by their probation officer so they can receive help and advice on finance and benefits. This is role is mostly office based with some flexibility for home working and also opportunities to go out and meet the individuals you are supporting face to face.

About the role

  • Advising and supporting clients who are experiencing money problems.
  • Identifying and dealing appropriately with emergency financial situations
  • Completing the debt advice process with clients by providing advice on a range of debt solutions and strategies and where appropriate provide help and support to enable the client to implement suitable strategies and debt solutions.
  • Providing advice on welfare benefit matters where appropriate including benefit checks, sanctions, applications, mandatory re-considerations and appeals.
  • Where appropriate make referrals to other agencies who can provide more specialist assistance.
  • Identifying accompanying issues which may be relevant to the client's situation, particularly related to the client's financial health



The ideal candidate

  • Will have Experience of engaging successfully with challenging people, for example people who have complex needs, people who are reluctant to discuss their needs, and people who are angry and confused
  • Experience in working with partner agencies either as part of a multi-agency team working towards common objectives or negotiating to establish links to further the aims of a project
  • Substantial recent experience of providing specialist money and/or Welfare benefit advice
  • Full UK's Drivers licence
