Job Description

Brook Street Social Care is a high street recruitment company that specialises in finding temporary and permanent work opportunities for professionals who provide care or support to vulnerable adults, children and families. We work with a wide range of companies that provide residential care, supported living, hostel, nursery and day care services.

At present we are working with a large care provider who is seeking temporary care workers to provide care and support to young adults who have around mental health, substance misuse, and emotional difficulties. The organisation works with young adults who have challenging behaviours and require 24 hour support. The services are mainly across Uxbridge, Guildford & Bracknell.

The role of the Home Manager covers 4 main areas:
1. Managing the day to day running of the home(s)
2. Supporting our young people in their day-today activities and developing
independence skills
3. Providing supervision and support to the Support Workers
4. Working closely alongside senior management as part of the wider team to
continually improve our organisation

House Management
● Ensuring that housekeeping requirements and standards are maintained (e.g.
keeping the house/s clean and tidy, ordering products, reporting repairs to the
maintenance team)
● Working closing with the Referrals Team to ensure we maintain maximum
occupancy rates
● Carrying out health and safety checks in accordance Abiding Care's policies
and procedures
● Taking pride in the house/s to ensure it is well run and has a welcoming and
homely atmosphere
● Engaging our young people in looking after the house and consulting with
them on how it is managed

Supporting Young People
● Working closely with the wider professional team around the young person to
develop and implement young peoples' support plans
● Participating in multi-agency meetings
● Supporting young people to develop life skills in accordance with their support
plans (e.g. engagement in education, employment, managing health,
finances, personal relationships, behaviour)
● Delivering key work sessions with young people and evidencing this in
support plans
● Organising activities and events in the house to promote young peoples'
wellbeing
● Being committed to safeguarding our young people and following Abiding
Care's safeguarding policies, procedures and requirements
● Maintaining high standards of record keeping
● Completing risk assessments and monthly reports

Providing Supervision and Support to Support Workers
● Providing advice and support to Support Workers to assist them in their role
● Providing regular supervision to Support Workers to promote their learning
and development and address performance issues
● Working collaboratively with Support Workers as part of a team to ensure the
smooth operation and management of the house
Continual Improvement
● Being committed to your own personal learning and development through
supervision, attending training and other learning opportunities
● Being committed to feeding back your own experiences and ideas through
our Engagement Surveys
● Maintaining high standards of communication both internally and externally
● Being committed to working as part of and supporting your team

Key Experience & Qualifications Required
● A minimum of 2 years relevant experience of working with young people in
supported housing, social care, community development or a related field
● Understanding of the complex emotional and behavioural needs of young
people in social care
● Willingness to work sensitively with young people with challenging behaviour
● Good verbal and written communication skills
● Good literacy and numeracy skills
● Computer literacy including the ability to use a range of office software
packages as well as a central database
● Good time management and organisational skills
● Ability to work effectively within a team structure
● Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines
● Flexibility of working hours to meet deadlines when appropriate
● Good customer relation skills
● Achieved NVQ level 3 (4) or willingness to undertake
● Current driver's licence and own car
