Job Description

Are you experienced in housing and looking for your next challenge?

I am currently recruiting for a Part time housing support officer based in Selby, the position is 20 hours per week and the client is a non-profit organisation which manages more than 30 different housing, training and support services across Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees and North Yorkshire.

In North Yorkshire there are four residential sites for Gypsies and Travellers, Roma and Showpeople.
The residential sites provide accommodation for between 12 and 16 families. All sites have a communal garden area and a drop-in facility for small meetings or one-to-one sessions.
Each pitch has its own service block (shed), which includes a kitchen area and bathroom/ utility room. Most pitches have space for two caravans and one or two vehicles.
The scheme provides a repairs and maintenance service and support with housing benefit and personal charge payments.


The post holder will support the day-to-day operational management of properties providing housing management to Gypsy and Travellers at two sites located in Selby- North Yorkshire.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

" Worked in a housing environment or housing management in a similar position catering for a vulnerable/demanding needs group, and providing housing and tenancy related support.
" Basic knowledge of issues associated with Gypsy and Travellers
" Evidence of vocational training in relevant skills for the post, such as: Housing Management, Health and Safety, Benefits System, Handling Violence and Aggression, Mental Health, Safeguarding Adults and Children
" An understanding of the kinds of problems faced by marginalised groups such as Gypsy and Travellers
" A basic knowledge of housing management and mobile homes legislation and domestic violence and/or child protection issues.
" Experience of collecting rents and submitting Housing Benefit Applications
