The role of the independent living worker is essentially a landlord role. You are going to be 90% admin and a 10% support worker role. The main duties include, managing referrals, case loads, dealing with income benefits and rent payments. Each week you will liaise with the client, you may need to offer drug and alcohol support so knowledge of the support services will be ideal. You need to assist individuals on setting targets and goals with each service user, empowering them and helping them sustain independent living.
The ideal candidate will have experience working within this area in order to offer the correct support, you must be reliable, trustworthy and be flexible to be hands-on as a support worker and be able to manage the admin side.
You must have a minimum of 1 year's paid work experience within the last 5 years working with all ages in the social care sector from children to adults. If you have a DBS on the update service then we would love to hear from you!
