Job Description

Position: Machine Controller

Hours - 4:30pm - 1:30am
Location: Standlake - Witney - Oxfordshire
Rate: £9.85

Responsibilities:

Follow the company Health & Safety guidelines as outlined above

  • Follow production plans, as instructed by the Planners, to satisfy customer service levels, maximise productivity and minimise waste
  • Ensure the smooth running of a designated grading machine to achieve the optimum efficiency and achieve the required throughput
  • Monitor and control waste output from the machine
  • Conduct regular team briefs with the staff
  • Adopt a "Right First Time" approach to their work
  • Liaise closely with Maintenance Engineers to ensure the smooth running of the machine. Escalate serious or reoccurring problems to line Managers
  • Accurately complete shift reports to enable a smooth hand over
  • Assist the Shift Manager in focussing on the key performance indicators (KPIs) identified by the business, and work towards achieving and surpassing agreed targets
  • Assist the Shift Manager to drive product quality, integrity and traceability. Ensure work is completed to a high-standard, and all necessary documentation is completed
  • Work in conjunction with central / QA teams to implement legislative changes / management system updates
  • Strictly follow specific grading procedures for each product type or farm
  • Ensure that all product specifications are followed by the production team. Ensure that egg-type, packaging, and labels are correct at all times
  • Be aware of promotional activity and follow the provided guidelines carefully. Ensure that new customer product specifications are met
  • Identify and develop potential within the team, and work closely with the Shift Manager in ensuring the correct training and support is given
  • The site is committed to being "audit-ready" at all times. Therefore it is imperative that site hygiene, health & safety, and document control are all in line with customer specifications at all times
  • Maintain a respectful and constructive working relationship with colleagues, subordinates and managers
  • Be proactive with continuous improvement ideas and projects

Physical demands:

The production process requires manual handling to an estimated maximum of 14 kilos. The bedend process requires repetitive bending. Several areas require the use of manual pallet trucks. The jobholder should have a reasonable level of fitness and should report any conditions that may be aggravated by the required activities.
