Job Description

** Nursery Nurse **
** East Haddon, Northampton (Northamptonshire) **
** Permanent and full time **
** £8.50ph / £17,680 **
** Working 40 hours per week **

BS Social Care are looking to recruit for a Nursery Nurse to join a busy village day nursery within the Northampton area of Northamptonshire.

About this employer; this expanding Nursery welcomes children from 3 months to 11 years old and aim to provide all of the children with high quality care in a warm, safe and friendly environment. The nursery has separate play rooms for children of different ages that will be managed by an experienced and qualified Nursery Nurse.

Your everyday duties will include;

Engaging and playing with the children, observing the room making sure all children are safe and happy, planning fun activities, cleaning and doing light housekeeping duties and helping the children around lunch time, feeding younger children when required.

Purpose of Post

Provide a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual care for the children.
Create a stimulating and attractive environment for the children, and be a positive role model to the children at all times.
Encourage and support child development by providing differentiated activities according to the child`s specific needs.
Implement the daily routine in your room.
Work with the other staff members, providing support as necessary and ensure that the ethos and standards of the nursery are maintained.
Contribute to and implement the nursery`s policies and procedures.
Fulfil legal and statutory requirements.
Plan, prepare and implement an education programme to meet all requirements needed for the nursery to obtain a good Ofsted inspection.

Main Duties

Be a key worker to a small group of children, liaising closely with parents / carers, ensuring that each child`s needs are recognised and met, and encourage parents` involvement.
Help set up the room for the daily programme and then help tidy away.
Receive children from their parents on their arrival, and report any special instructions to a senior member of staff and record as necessary in rooms passover book.
Record all arrivals and departures of children, staff and guests on tick sheets and room registers.

Specific child care tasks:
- Prepare and complete activities to suit the child`s stage of development.
- Attend to health, welfare and safety of the children.
- Supervise children in the bathroom, assisting as necessary with toilet training and nappy changing.
- Ensure that children are collected by someone known to the nursery.
- Maintain children`s records in your group.
- Ensure that children`s individual dietary / health requirements are fully understood and adhered to at all times.

The ideal candidate will be hard working, friendly and approachable. You will need to be able to work effectively with a team and be motivated to continue to learn and train and develop your skills further. You will also hold a Level 2 or Level 3 within Childcare. You will ideally be within 25 mins of the nursery and will be a driver or have guaranteed lifts to be dropped off and picked up every day.

The nursery is committed to safeguarding children and successful candidates will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.

For this full time and permanent role, you will be offered a pay rate/salary of £8.50ph/£17,680. You will work Monday - Friday.
