BS Social Care are currently working in partnership with a care organisation who are recruiting for a full time and permanent Recovery Worker in the Cambridge area of Cambridgeshire. This role will entail working with 3 and 5 young people (between the ages or 16-25yrs).

About the employer; this service has been supporting young people in Cambridge since the 1980s and they're particularly experienced at supporting young people who have had, or who are currently having difficulties, with their mental health.

About the job; each placement at the service can last up to a maximum of 2 years. In situations where a positive move on is not achievable in this time a placement extension is discussed with the person you will support and their support team. Generally placement extensions will be agreed on a 3 month rolling basis with a clear monitoring agreement in place highlighting what needs to be achieved in this time.

Each person the company supports in the service has an assigned Recovery Worker who they are expected to meet with weekly (minimum). This may be more at the beginning of a placement or at times when needs are deemed to be higher. Each individual will agree a support plan with their Recovery Worker which lists goals that they would like to work on. Support plans are reviewed at least 3 monthly or when required.

In particular the service assists Young People to learn the skills they need to:

Budget successfully to pay rent and other living expenses
Deal with the expectations of statutory and non statutory agencies
Apply for and manage benefit claims/payments to maximise their income
Complete forms and paperwork associated with living independently
Build positive relationships with their neighbours and local community
Keep their home clean and tidy and safe
Use and maintain equipment in their home
Access and participate in services in their local community
Access training, education and employment to enhance their life chances
Manage their sexual health and sexual relationships
Maintain contact with local mental health services and the Council to develop a coordinated plan whilst they are
Living in the Service and in preparation for their move to accommodation

About the ideal candidate; whilst it is not an essential requirement for candidates to drive, it is advantageous as you will be expected to partake in an on-call rota, whereby in exceptional circumstances you may need to access either the office base or one of the 14 units during unsociable hours, meaning access to a vehicle and or transport during such times will be expected.

The ideal candidates will need at least 1/2 years experience of working in a social care setting, working with either young people, those with Mental Ill Health, Learning Disability, Challenging/offending behaviour, Drug and/or Alcohol or homelessness. Housing Related support/Housing Management experience is a must. In addition the candidates must have a practical, solution focused approach and be willing to support the young people with general life skills including cleaning and tidying their living space, attending appointments, and appreciating social etiquette within a shared environment.

This is a full time and permanent role paying £18,854 alongside a comprehensive training package inc supporting the completion of The Care Certificate, access to 24 hour support via an Employee Assistance Programme, bonus scheme involving supermarket discounts including Tesco, Marks and Spencer, Sainsbury`s and more, Cycle to Work Scheme, buying and selling annual leave.
