Refuge Support Assistant
Cardiff

We are working in partnership with a wonderful client who are currently recruiting a Refuge Support Worker to assist in their Cardiff service.
This is a full time role working 36 hours per week, that will include both day and night shifts.

Within this role you will be supporting the accommodation based team to provide a high-quality frontline service to victims of domestic and sexual abuse.

You will welcome new clients into the organisations accommodation-based support facilities and complete a comprehensive induction with all new residents.

Provide advocacy, emotional and practical support and information in relation to legal options, housing, health, finance and recovery. You will also support the empowerment of those seeking accommodation and assist them in recognising the features and dynamics of domestic abuse present in their situation and help them regain control of their lives.

You will respect and value the diversity of the community in which the services works in, and recognise the needs and concerns of a diverse range of clients ensuring the service is accessible to all.

The skills and experience we are looking for:

• Have a good understanding of domestic violence/ abuse including the impact of domestic violence/ abuse on victims and their children.
• Experience of working with and supporting vulnerable people.
• Be compassionate and empathetic.
• Show initiative and be proactive when managing your case load.
