I am working with a fantastic children residential services in Corby, Northampton and Bedford. I am working with Services that support young people from the ages of 10 to 18. They are part of reputable and growing care organisation. The services vary in size, from 3 bedded to 6 bedded, all aiming to providing access to the community and social activities. There is a large focus on therapeutic care and combining a comforting, homely approach but with clear professional boundaries.

I`m looking for a Support Worker who has a knack for communicating effectively with young people, understands the importance of the support they are providing and has a solid understanding of what this involves. I need someone that is resilient, has the initiative to help out around the home, engage in activities with the young people and help to create a positive, comforting and stable environment.

You`ll be engaging in activities with the young people, encouraging their independence and encouraging them to take responsibility e.g. in tidying their rooms. You will also support with general housekeeping around the home, ensuring that the cleaning, laundry and cooking is done. You`ll be encouraging the young people to get involved with these tasks where appropriate. My client is looking for someone that will take a proactive role within the house and actively engage with the young people, building a positive relationship with them.

You must have at least 12 months current experience in care. You will need to have professional experience working with children in a supportive environment, ideally within a residential setting.

Restraint training is essential. An NVQ Level 3 in working with Children and Young People is highly desirable.

Team Teach training is highly desirable as is a full driving licence

You will need to have a current DBS registered to the online service. If you don`t have this, I can support in getting one.

As this is ongoing temporary work, the hours can be flexible to fit around your other commitments. The more availability you give me the more work I can get you.

If this sounds like something you`d love to be a part of, or you`re looking to grow your experience working with Children and Young People, I`d love to hear from you.
