Job Description

Our client is currently looking for support workers in south London for one of their adult residential homes. This is a full time role, paying £20,800 per annum. The service provides residents with day to day support, with the aim of making them more independent in society.

The needs of the residents vary, from mental health, learning disabilities, and more. They are seeking candidates who have experience supporting residents with challenging behaviours.

The ideal candidate will:
- Will have experience working with adults with challenging behaviour.
- Have an NVQ or other relevant professional qualification
- Be able to work shifts, including sleeping in
- Be able to work within a team and on own initiative

The Job requirements are:
- To contribute to the development of the resident to enable them to reach their full potential by providing a stimulating lifestyle.
- To work with firm and consistent boundaries in order to create safety and containment for the resident
- To work with residents who because of past trauma display challenging behaviour.
- To work alongside the resident to help develop a true sense of identity and feel of self worth.

- To be sensitive to the needs of the resident, taking account of race, culture, language and religion.
- To work in an anti-discriminatory and anti-oppressive manner.
- To work effectively alongside shift partner and other team members to ensure the resident develops in a caring and consistent environment/atmosphere.
- To liaise, where necessary, with other professionals.
- To help the resident to integrate into social activities
- To perform Ad hoc tasks as and when required.
