Job Description

** Senior Children`s Residential Care Worker **
** Abingdon, Oxfordshire **
** Permanent and full time **
** 7am - 10/11am and 2pm - 9pm on weekdays. The morning shift on the weekend is longer (finishing at 2pm) **
** up to £29,000 **
** Childrens residential home for six children aged between 5 and 18 years **

BS Social Care are currently recruiting for Senior Children`s Residential Care Workers to work in one of our homes providing a nurturing, caring, and safe service for six children aged between 5 and 18 years. We support them to grow and learn and to develop their skills, confidence, and independence. The children and young people who live at the home have different learning, physical and emotional needs. Some children have high level complex needs, including health and social needs and behaviours that can challenge. Our vision is to build happy and healthy childhoods and support every child to thrive.

The service is staffed 24 hours per day by a dedicated team working on a shift basis. The children and young people can live with us until they move into adult accommodation, and therefore it is essential that the service feels like home

About the job; our Senior Children`s Residential Care Worker performs a critical role within our services and are a vital part of the team.
Work with the team to create a safe and secure environment within the home.
Meet the care needs of the children.
Build secure and professional working relationships with each child to understand and communicate their needs through listening, conversations and using pictures.
Safeguard the children - including reporting and responding to safeguarding disclosures and accessing support from relevant services and managers when necessary.
Follow protocols to contact emergency services as required to deal with any relevant issue or incident.
Have an open and flexible approach to working with children and a commitment to understanding how to positively manage behaviours that can challenge.
To oversee the RSW's and work closely with both them and the higher management to ensure all duties are met and all RSW's are receiving the best possible support for their Direct Line Manager.

About the ideal candidate; successful candidates will have experience working in a childcare or children`s residential setting and have knowledge and understanding of working with children with complex needs and hold at least 1 year of supervisory experience. Candidates must hold a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (England) or equivalent level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care, Childcare, or similar. Alternatively, we can support access to a level 3 qualification upon employment.

This is a full time and permanent role paying up to £29,000 with the option of overtime. You will be offered an intense induction followed by consistent training and supervisions. Progression is offered and supported. Qualifications are also paid for.
