Job Description

Software & Systems Developer

My client is a well-established Education non-profit organisation who are seeking to add to their growing development team.

Job purpose:

Carry out design, development, implementation and maintenance of a range of effective and accurate CRM solutions through the process of coding for the Careers & Employability division and the North East business, including other programmes operated by Company.
Ensure clear documentation as part of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and ensuring security and disaster recovery is maintained whilst ensuring BAU for the organisation.

Job objectives:
1. To act as a first line developer liaison between the customers of the systems (both within the organisation and outside) and the rest of the development team.
2. Document and demonstrate solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments, and clear code principles.
3. Develop software solutions by studying information needs, conferring with users, studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes; investigating problem areas; and following the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
4. Maintain Security Development Lifecycle (SDL) ensuring secure software application are in place and feed into wider disaster recovery (DR) and BAU
5. To design, automate, manage and coordinate tests and test plans for systems & reports to prevent issues occurring in the production/live environment
6. The ability to priorities development projects dependent on business needs, desirable updates, and those for the health of the system(s) using Azure DevOps
7. Ensuring contract compliance of MI systems across all contracts/programmes including data protection and security.

8. When required act as a contact for all system development and issues, including direct liaison with external software/system providers, funders and IT department.
This requires the need to talk to colleagues who are key decision makers but may not have the technical skillset that the development team holds.
9. Be responsible for adhering to both local and the Corporate Safeguarding policy and procedures aimed at promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and at-risk
adults and attend mandatory child protection and/or adult protection safeguarding and prevent training

Scope:
The successful candidate must be prepared to travel, based on business needs to other company offices if required.

Knowledge

Essential Technical Tools:
o Strong experience in C# (Object Oriented Programming)
o MVC
o .Net Core (>3.0)
o JavaScript / JQuery
o SQL and Relational Databases (T-SQL and SQL server-specific functions).
o Object Oriented Programming
o Object-relational mappers (O/RM)
o Unit testing (manual/automated)
o HTML 5 / CSS
o JSON, XML
o RESTful Web Services

Essential Testing (Acceptance)/Automation/QA tools:
o Selenium / Katalon / MS Test

Essential Management Tools:
o DevOps
o GitHub (Task Management)
o Microsoft Azure environment/associated tools

Desirable:
o Degree level education or equivalent qualifications
o Entity Framework 6 or Entity Framework Core.
