We are seeking experienced support staff to engage with young people with Social and Emotional needs and a diagnosis of Mental Health

The organisation are currently recruiting support workers to support their children and young people in a unique Children's service providing overnight, weekend or longer stays for children and young people up to the age of 18 who have multiple, complex, social, and emotional and a diagnosis of mental health needs and sometimes profound and other health needs.

What we will need from you:

" Experience in a residential or respite setting with children / young people with learning disabilities.

" DBS For Children on Update Service (If you don't have one we can help register you for this)

" NVQ Level3 Caring for children and young people
" Working Knowledge of residential/respite childcare practice is desirable.
" Sound understanding of needs of children/young people with learning disabilities.

" Knowledge of child protection practice
" Ability to communicate with parent's carers and other professionals
" Sound I.T. skills (including Word, Excel, and use of e-mail)
" Knowledge of Key working

For this role you must provide practical / emotional support in a residential setting. Ensure that the short break is a positive experience. Help with the daily routine, including personal care, mobility, administering medication. Support choices and decisions they make, enable the children to develop their social skills and access appropriate leisure activities and promote their participation and independence.
