BS Social Care are currently recruiting for a number of Support Worker for an adult`s residential home within the North West London area looking for candidates that have the values and passion for helping others.

We are looking for a person to join our friendly team to provide support in Colindale, NW9, on a full-time basis, on a flexible rota (weekdays and weekends, working 24-hour shifts - including sleep-ins).

" You will be lone working with a young man with autism, who is non-verbal, supporting him in his own home and in the community - spending most days undertaking his favourite activity, which is walking around London (on average 10 miles a day).

" You will develop an understanding of his communication needs and style, and enable him to make his own informed choices, helping him to make his wishes known and feel "listened to".

" You will safeguard him from harm and any unnecessary risks.

" You will be able to deal with his challenging behaviour at times when he is unable to regulate his emotions, and unable to communicate what he wants / what is troubling him.

" You will support him with his daily living skills and ensure his home is kept clean and safe.

" You will need to help him prepare his food and cook his hot meals, whilst encouraging him to help where he can.

" You will need to provide support with his personal / intimate care, whilst promoting his independence.

" He regularly visits his mother and father for dinner (twice a week) and a trip into the community (one afternoon at the weekend). They live about 1 mile from his home. You will support him during these visits, so helping him maintain a close relationship with his family. Therefore, all team members naturally develop a close professional relationship with his parents, whilst joining in family mealtimes and days out.

" When not on shift at this Outreach Service, you will be on a rota at our Finchley Service, in order to ensure that full-time hours are offered each week.
