BS Social Care are currently recruiting for a Support Worker for an adult`s residential home within Watford, Hertfordshire looking for candidates that have the values and passion for helping others. This role is to work alongside and support 5 service users in total age between 31yrs - 83yrs. 4 of the service users are within the residential home and 1 service user lives in their own home down the road. The company has been established for 28yrs.

They develop and create practical solutions that match each person`s abilities and goals, giving them the tools they need to thrive and enjoy a fulfilling, happy life. They are passionate about ensuring they give the best possible care to their residents and provide a happy environment for both the service users and staff.

About the role; a typical day as a Support Worker for this service would include a handover (the Shift Leader would delegate tasks), you would then be involved in the personal care of the service users that need it, assist with breakfast where needed, oversee medication and so forth. You would assist the service users with driving to where they need to be that day ie day centre ect (if non driver then taxis can be used). A lot of this role is based around supporting and prompting your service users. Only one service user will need toileting assistance and mobility assistance. You will ensure daily logs are completed, care plans, ordering meds, food shopping, clothes shopping, ensuring health and safety is completed, reporting incidents and more.

About the ideal candidate; it is not essential that you have experience, but it is essential that you are empathetic and compassionate towards the residents of the home and interested in the role for the right reasons. We need candidates that have the right values and understanding of the needs of the service users you`re working with by building a professional relationship and being a friend as well as their Carer. If you do not hold any relevant qualifications, you will have to complete the care certificate and be willing to work towards gaining extra qualifications. It will be ideal to be a driver with transportation. This organisation looks to upskill and progress their team and offer the opportunity to become Shift Leaders after probation if that is of interest. You will have a good personality, able to be trained and willingness to learn, a common sense, know how to communicate and not aggravate the service users and speak to the service users respectfully.

In return; this role can either offer a part time and permanent role working 15 hours per week. You will also be offered a whole host of benefits which will be discussed on interview. The benefits include; £100 added to your salary for having a qualification, will have a mentor and could possibly become a mentor, length of service salary increase, 6-week induction, care certificate, face to face and E-learning; champion training, equality, hygiene ect, training around LD, MH, Medication and safe guarding, you will be able to gain the QCF.
