Job Description

Nursery Team Leader
Bristol
Salary: £18,861

Experience: A Team Leader will ideally have at least 2 years nursery experience and be suitably experienced for the age group. They must also have a recognised Childcare / Early Years qualification at Level 3 or above that is considered full and relevant by the department of education for work in an early years setting. Experience of working in a Nursery setting is desirable. They will demonstrate knowledge of Ofsted and The Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

Staff holding the Early Years Educator qualification (courses started after September 2014) must also hold a suitable level 2 qualification in maths and English as defined by the department of education.
In addition, all staff who have completed a Level 2 or Level 3 childcare qualification (on or after 30th June 2016) must have a current Paediatric First Aid certificate to be included within staffing ratios. (If they do not have this, this must be fully achieved within 3 months of starting work).


Purpose of the post:


Responsible for working with children from three months to approximately five years of age.
o To plan and lead the daily routine of a room, activities, planning, monitoring and evaluation.
o To oversee the deployment of staff in the room and to be responsible for ensuring that all requirements are met.
o To support the care and education of the children in the room within a key person structure, promoting good practice and being a role model for other staff and children.
o To ensure that the safeguarding and welfare of the children is paramount in the room at all times.
o To be aware of and comply with the Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework.
o Work to our clients policies, procedures and directed tasks
o Achieving the desired outcomes within your rooms on a daily, weekly and monthly basis as required by the Manager.
o Effective leadership of staff within the room, exemplifying good practice and being a role model for other staff.
o In the absence of the Deputy Manager the Team Leader would support the Nursery Manager in the supervision and deployment of all staff in the Nursery.
o Where required, act as key holder and have responsibilities for opening and closing the nursery.
o Assume responsibility for the daily operation of the nursery in the absence of the Nursery Manager and Deputy Manager.
o Assist the Nursery Manager and nursery staff in providing a dynamic, active learning environment for the children on a day-to-day basis.
o Continuously supporting, monitoring and recommending improvements for quality in the area of work within the nursery.

Duties and Responsibilities a) Organisational responsibilities


o Responsible for the children's social and educational development. This involves assisting with planning and implementing the curriculum.
o To be responsible for the care of children, including physical care such as feeding, nappy changing, their welfare, health and dietary requirements and safeguarding the children in your care within the nursery.
o To deliver a service of the highest standard that will develop and improve each child's quality of life. To respect each child as an individual, taking in its appropriate needs.
o To be responsible for observing and monitoring children's progress and development.
o To manage alongside the Nursery Manager children's transitions to the next room and onto school, including ensuring all links to other early years providers are maintained for all children within the room and ensuring regular partnership working.
o To ensure accurate completion of the Two-Year Progress Check (if applicable to the children in the room).
o Pre School Team Leaders to develop and maintain links with Primary Schools where children will be attending and supporting the transition phase between nursery and school in accordance with our Managing Transitions Policy.
o Responsible for reviewing and monitoring
