Job Description

Every day, people all over the UK enjoy a better quality of life with help from qualified Support Workers. We`re looking for people who want to offer this life-changing care and support to a wide range of people with varying backgrounds and life situations.

What is a support worker?
From community inclusion and integration to improving relationships and developing basic life skills, support workers assess the practical and emotional needs of their client, before applying the right level of care. Whether this is helping people with day to day living or improving their social links to the outside world, Support Workers often carry out a wide range of roles designed to maintain and improve dignity, rights, health, safety and well being.

What is my role?
The work that Support Workers carry out is highly varied and changes from client to client. Some Support Workers specialise in helping disabled people to carry out everyday tasks like dressing, eating and interacting with others, whereas others may act as the link between vulnerable people and the community. There are lots of career progression opportunities within support work, as well as the opportunity to develop specialised skills within certain areas.

What skills do I need?
You`ll certainly need to be a people person! Support Work is all about helping others, so you`ll need to be an excellent communicator who can build relationships and work with others. An understanding of social care is a must, along with any experience of helping ill, disabled or disadvantaged people to live their lives with as few limits as possible. Personal requirements also include empathy, self-motivation, daily living skills, and strong links to and understanding of the local community.

You`ll also need to understand the regulations and ruling bodies involved with the social care industry, and you`ll have a minimum of 6 months of experience alongside qualifications or a diploma in Health and Social Care or equivalent. We offer flexible working hours, a pension scheme, holidays, and a competitive salary.

How do I apply?
If you feel that you have the desire to change lives and the capabilities to help people from a wide range of backgrounds, then we`d love to see your full CV. We have positions available in Kingston, Croydon, Orpington, Redhill and other locations throughout South London, Surrey and Sussex.
