Service Type: Homeless Services
Position Type: 3 Year Fixed Term Contract
Hours of Work: 20 Hours Per Week
Salary: £12.41 Per Hour

An exciting employment opportunity has come up in a London for a Aftercare Services - Welfare Assistant

About the Role:

For this role will primarily work alongside the Project Co-ordinator - Homeless Services to provide support to residents transitioning to independent living by offering ongoing support to minimise the risk of returning to homelessness. The post holder will assess needs and put appropriate interventions in place for services users adopting a person-centred approach in the development of support plans.

Person centred approach is a way of supporting and working with people that informs our whole culture. We always put the client at the centre of the support they receive - and provide a framework for them to plan and set a direction for their life.

Strong applicants for this role will have experience or an interest in supporting people through change, as they move into their own flats, make this their home and plan their futures. And will be experienced in supporting Individuals back into the community.


Ideal candidate :
o Experience of working with people who are or have been homeless.
o Experience of working with vulnerable people.
o Proven commitment of providing high quality person-centred support, preferably in a housing environment.
o Case management experience.
o Understanding of tenancy/housing management law and practice (including welfare benefits).
o An understanding of Health & Safety and the ability to undertake risk assessments.
o Commitment to collaborative working internally with colleagues and externally with partners to ensure a high quality of service delivery.
o Good administrative, IT and project management skills.
o Ability to organise workload.
o Excellent written and oral communication skills.
o Ability to maintain clear boundaries with residents and colleagues.
o Ability to work using own initiative and as part of a team.
Ability to communicate and inform at all levels e.g. with residents, service users, colleagues, senior managers and other professionals etc.
