Job Description
*Women's refuge support worker*
*Permanent - part time - out of hours and weekends*
*Up to £12.63 an hour! *
We are working alongside a fantastic women's refuge organisation who are recruiting for domestic violence adviser's.
The company is a woman`s equality organisation which exists to eradicate violence against women and girls and to support survivors. They recognise that ending violence and abuse takes a whole society approach to social change, and it needs you to help them achieve this!
This is a part time role working on the out of hours and weekend service so you will need flexibility to work nights and weekends
You will be the first point of contact; your role will involve delivering trauma informed and specialist and independent advice to women and their children experiencing domestic abuse.
About you
- You will have a good understanding of domestic violence/abuse and the impact it has on the victims and their children
- You will have a good knowledge of civil and criminal justice remedies for victims of domestic abuse and their children
- You will have an understanding of protection issues and how to respond effectively to safeguard
- You will understand the principles of risk assessments
- You will have some basic IT skills
- Be an excellent communicator and advisor
- You will be confident in dealing with a crisis situation
- You will be naturally compassionate and empathetic
- You will be able to demonstrate strong resilience
About the role
- Be a first point of contact, answering calls and working as part of the out of hours and weekend service
- Work with best practices and KPI time frames
- You will be responsible for identifying and assessing the risks and needs of service users
- You will be able to prioritise cases and provide pro-active immediate crisis intervention.
- Complete referrals to appropriate safeguarding agencies
- Support, signpost and refer women and children to the services they wish to engage with
- Ensure accurate and timely records are maintained
