At Brook Street Social Care, our people’s welfare is at the heart of what we do.

Our founder Margery Hurst was an early advocate for understanding the impact of mental health in the workplace. She recognised that mental health challenges shouldn’t exclude workers and that employers needed to create supportive environments which foster happy and healthy employees. In 1969, the Margery Club was formed, funding pioneering research into mental health. Margery also supported autistic school leavers and people who had suffered from mental ill health to find work.

We take this responsibility seriously and to this day, we continue to prioritise mental health and wellbeing initiatives within our business.

This year we have invested in Mental Health First Aid, training staff across our branches to provide support. When you’re an associate with us and you need someone to talk to, we’re here for you! All our associates can reach out to their Brook Street Social Care consultant who’ll put them in touch with one of our qualified Mental Health First Aiders. As a Brook Street Social Care associate, you’ll also have access to our Associate Wellbeing Hub where you can gain tips and tools on how to look after yourself mentally, physically and financially.

Find out more about being an associate here.
