APHA (Animal and Plant Health Agency) - Admin Officer

Location: York
Salary: £12.26
Hours: SHIFTS - (7days) - 4 days on and 4 days off (Shifts range from 6:00am - 5:00pm and 1:00pm - 12:00am)

Role Overview:

You will provide administrative support for the imports team. This post is a shift post, 4 days on and 4 days off. You will follow set procedures and will exercise some independent judgment in carrying out instructions, under general supervision. Examples of work performed will include but not be restricted to:

- Collating and analysing fairly complex information or data, submitting data into IT systems

- Overseeing administrative procedures and processes including mailbox management

- Regulate imports of plant products

- Review and interpret certificate whilst adhering to internal requirments

- Assisting with budget preparation and control, if required

- Acting as a administrative liaison with internal and / or external sources

- Preparing routine correspondence

- Processing import checks and notifications

- This role will involve answering calls on a daily basis as part of the import team and providing advice to customers.

Typical qualifications and experience:

- Five GCSEs at Grade C or above or equivalent (including English Language or equivalent)

- NVQ Business Administration Level 2 (or suitable clerical experience)

- Administrative experience with a good knowledge of and experience in using Microsoft Office

- Good communication skills, both oral and written
