Job Description

Speech and Language Therapist
Minehead, £23,338 - £26,520


Our client is looking for an enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapist to work as part of a therapy team working for a specialist college for young adults with learning disabilities (18-25 years old). Our client offers training in independent life skills, plus the opportunity to learn catering skills. The happiness, well-being and success of the learners is at the centre of everything they do.


The Role:

As a Speech and Language Therapist you will Work with the Therapy Team Leader to implement outstanding evidence based practice for Speech and Language Therapy Services across the college including service audits. You will also provide professional specialist assessment, diagnosis and management of speech, language and communication disorders including participation in sessions, 1:1, and/or group Therapy, and associated strategies in partnership with Tutors and Pastoral staff.


You will be expected to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, including pastoral, vocational and educational staff in planning and implementing therapy programmes, you will develop links with other professions, staff and institutions regarding clinical issues for learning disabilities.


The Speech and Language Therapist will be able to provide written professional reports as appropriate e.g. annual assessment report and work with the Therapy Team Leader to devise and monitor Education and Health Care Plan contributions and attend reviews as required.


About you:

You will be a registered member of RCSLT and HCPC.
You will hold a professional Speech and Language Therapy degree or equivalent.
You will have the ability to demonstrate a commitment to continued professional development.
You will have previous experience of working as a Speech and Language Therapist.
You will have experience in implementing a wide range of approaches in supporting young people with social communication difficulties.
You will have experience of preparing complex reports.
