Job Description

The Role
Our client is looking to employ Support Workers in the Preston area, to integrate into a friendly and supportive environment for adults with learning disabilities and/or mental health needs. The work is very rewarding, with no two days being the same. You will be part of a supportive team sharing the workload, looking after each other and celebrating success together.

As a Support Worker, you will empower the people you support by promoting independence, offering emotional support, and helping them achieve a life worth living.
37 hours per week with a salary paid up to £26,968 (This includes an average of 2 sleep ins per weeks at a rate of £50 per night. This also includes maximum of 4 overtime shifts per month)

What will be your primary responsibilities?
" Act as a 'keyworker' for adults with learning disabilities or mental health needs.
" To safeguard and provide consistency and stability
" To provide advocacy and act with sensitivity
" Provide stimulating educational and physical activities
" Encouraging and supporting on a wide range of daily activities, such as GP appointments, food shopping, clothes shopping, day trips or personal hobbies such gardening, computer games, cars etc

Who are we looking for? To apply for this post, you will have:
" NVQ/QCF Level 2 Health & Social Care (Ideal, but relevant experience will be considered if no qualification is held)
" Experience of working with adults with learning disabilities and additional needs OR experience in mental health or youth work is desirable but not essential.
" Passion for care as well as following compassion in practice.
" The ability to remain calm and manage challenging situations is imperative
" The ability to build rapport quickly and work compassionately with our service users
" A flexible and enthusiastic "can do" approach to work
" Able to structure and balance days for service users.
